Reading an extended XYZ file with a velocities column failed: the velocities,
in (eV/amu)^0.5 as the writer writes them, were converted from ASE's unit of
time instead. They are now read in Å/fs, and a file written by this step reads
back the same.

The article presents a theoretical discussion of the short story genre as a product of creative activity that provides spiritual nourishment to individuals. It examines the artistic value, concise content, and realistic depiction of reality characteristic of the short story genre in the prose of world and Uzbek children’s literature. The article emphasizes that the depiction of the period and characters, the portrayal of social life, and the interpretation of characters constitute the main structural components of a short story. It also provides scientific and theoretical views and considerations on teaching short stories to primary school students based on a literary analysis framework.

Let $p$ be an odd prime power. We show that every positive integer other than $2$ occurs as the order of a self-reciprocal polynomial of even degree over $\F_p$, thereby completely determining the set of such orders. As an application, we show that the set of $\F_p$-periods of van der Geer--van der Vlugt curves is exactly the set of positive even integers. Furthermore, we show that for a van der Geer--van derVlugt curve of $\F_p$-period $N$, maximality orminimality over its first extremal field $\F_{p^N}$depends only on the pair $(p,N)$, and we determine it explicitly.

This reproducibility package accompanies the study “Mixed-Integer Co-Optimization of Hydropower Participation in Electricity and Ancillary Services Markets under Heterogeneous Bid Discretization and Segment-Specific Charges”. It contains a coupled mixed-integer linear programming implementation for day-ahead electricity and ancillary-services allocation, frozen public Ukrainian day-ahead-market price profiles for 5, 15, and 28 May 2026, experiment scripts, reference output tables, code-generated figures, and data and regulatory provenance. The model represents day-ahead electricity on a 0.1-MWh grid and reserve capacity on a parameterized grid (1 MW in the case study), includes expected upward and downward reserve activation in hydro-energy accounting, applies product-specific charge incidence, couples hourly decisions through an aggregate hydro-energy budget, and evaluates progressively stricter manual-reserve operating envelopes. The strict online plus stable-minimum sensitivity preserves positive gains in the tested low-remuneration, low-activation cases. The package is intended to reproduce the reported computational results and figures; wall-clock solver runtimes are environment-dependent.

AbstractWhile oceanic fronts and meanders influence the atmosphere, it remains unclear whether long-term changes in the geometry of meanders generate significant atmospheric trends. Using 26 years of satellite observations and reanalysis data, we show that the Agulhas Extension meander in the Subantarctic zone has undergone substantial geometric changes. The meander path in the western sector has become increasingly flexed and flatter in its eastern sector. These changes generate ocean surface height and temperature trends exceeding 3 cm and 0.5 °C per decade. The oceanic trends are mirrored by coherent atmospheric trends in wind speed, precipitation, and surface heat fluxes. Because the meander remains geographically fixed, its oceanic and atmospheric signatures are spatially anchored, producing localized multi-decadal trends that are 2–5 times larger than the broader regional climate trends. Our results demonstrate that gradual changes in the geometry of a standing ocean meander can drive persistent atmospheric trends, highlighting strong atmosphere–ocean coupling outside the tropics.

Community Group Saving and Lending (CGSL) mechanisms are widely promoted as a practical route to rural financial inclusion where formal banking services are weak, distant or too expensive for smallholder farmers. Yet a central policy question remains unresolved: can community lending groups remain financially sustainable after external facilitation, NGO supervision or donor-funded training ends? This article addresses that question through a cost-benefit analysis of CGSL mechanisms in Eastern Equatoria, South Sudan, with specific attention to Magwi County. Using survey evidence from the wider doctoral study on CGSL mechanisms in Eastern Equatoria, Jonglei and Lakes States, the paper re-analyses the Eastern Equatoria subset and compares it with cross-state patterns. The article treats cost-benefit analysis as an interpretive, perception-score proxy rather than an audited cash-flow statement, because the thesis data contain Likert-scale evidence on services, constraints, lending effects and agricultural outcomes rather than detailed group ledgers. The benefit side includes perceived access to credit, savings mobilisation, local capacity building, member management, productivity gains and poverty-reduction functions. The cost side includes working-capital scarcity, dependence on external facilitation, the need for government-donor collaboration, formal institutional reluctance, transaction costs associated with group management, and the weak availability of long-term capital. The findings show that Eastern Equatoria has a strong benefit index, driven by high agreement that rural finance improves productivity (mean = 4.61), that productivity rises through investment (mean = 4.54), that groups provide an alternative credit channel for the poor (mean = 4.43), and that savings are important for poverty reduction (mean = 4.57). However, the cost and risk exposure index is also high because respondents strongly reported scarcity of working capital (mean = 4.75), need for government-donor collaboration (mean = 4.54), and reluctance of formal institutions to serve rural areas (mean = 4.04). The resulting benefit-cost ratio is positive but modest, suggesting that self-supporting CGSLs are viable but institutionally fragile. The article argues that the future sustainability of Eastern Equatoria lending groups depends less on replacing external support immediately and more on converting external support into durable internal capacities: recordkeeping, loan discipline, member governance, savings growth, risk reserves and agricultural extension linkages.

This report examines how Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology can support Europe’s strategic objectives for clean energy, electrified mobility, and energy system flexibility. As renewable energy sources and electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly integrated into the energy system, V2G enables EV batteries to act as distributed energy resources, providing flexibility services, supporting grid stability, and reducing the need for additional stationary storage. The analysis is framed within the European Commission’s evolving policy landscape, including initiatives in energy, mobility, and digitalisation. Particular attention is given to the role of Cloud–Edge–IoT (CEI) infrastructures as the digital backbone for interoperable, data-driven, and market-integrated V2G services. The report assesses both commercial V2G offerings and V2G use cases developed in the European flagship R&D projects O-CEI and COP-Pilot. Commercial solutions already demonstrate the technical and economic potential of V2G through combinations of bidirectional-capable vehicles, dedicated charging infrastructure, and tailored energy tariffs. While the exact bundle configurations vary, all offerings seek to unlock the flexibility value of EV batteries and share revenues among users, aggregators, vehicle manufacturers and operators.
