Scholarship on African indigenous education has increasingly moved away from framing pre-colonial societies as lacking formal pedagogy, yet detailed, institution-by-institution reconstructions of specific Kenyan sub-groups remain scarce. This article addresses that gap by reconstructing the educational architecture of the Tigania, a sub-group of the Ameru nation of Kenya, prior to the onset of colonial rule in 1895. Guided by Decoloniality Theory and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) scholarship, the study draws on 50 purposively, probabilistically, and snowball-sampled oral testimonies collected across Mikinduri, Kiguchwa, Amugaa, and Michimikuru, corroborated with colonial archival records held at the Kenya National Archives. Findings show that Tigania education operated as an integrated system transmitted through six interlocking channels: oral tradition, apprenticeship, the initiation system, the age-set (nthuki) structure, family-based instruction, and communal transmission overseen by the Njuri Ncheke council of elders. These channels delivered cultural, economic, and political curricula simultaneously, embedding civic competence, craft specialization, and moral formation within everyday communal life rather than within a segregated institution. The article argues that this architecture met the functional criteria of formal education — sequencing, assessment, credentialing, and specialization — while remaining fully oral and relational. It contributes a systems-level model of indigenous pedagogy to comparative history-of-education scholarship and offers a documented empirical basis for integrating Tigania knowledge structures into contemporary heritage and curriculum policy in Meru County.

This historical Live Linux distribution, developed in 2005 by GISIX (fukengrueven.com), demonstrates the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for geospatial information and environmental applications.
The distribution was developed as a demonstrator for rangers of the UNESCO Global Geopark Bergstraße-Odenwald. It combines a ready-to-use GIS environment with regional geospatial datasets, including Landsat multispectral imagery, SRTM and ASTER digital elevation models, and vector data covering hiking trails, landscape monuments, and administrative boundaries.
The GIS infrastructure is based on GRASS GIS and UMN MapServer. The distribution illustrates an early approach to bundling open geospatial software and relevant environmental data into a portable, self-contained Linux environment.
The system was developed by Peter Löwe and GISIX as part of their work on customized FOSS-based GIS environments.

We investigate the impact of Nonlinear Interference (NLI) noise on the scalability of optical networks built using horseshoe-like topologies. By varying key design parameters, such as the number of nodes, per-node capacity, and span length; this study quantifies how nonlinear effects limit achievable reach and aggregate throughput as network scale increases. The analysis provides insight into the balance between traffic growth and physical-layer constraints, highlighting design tradeoffs that guide efficient dimensioning of future flexible optical infrastructures.

This record contains the Python codes used to reproduce the numerical results reported in the article “Asymptotic Analysis of Polygonal Arc-Length Approximation for Polar Curves with Divergent Puiseux Cusps”. The scripts include polygonal arc-length approximation, generalized Richardson–Romberg extrapolation, validation through independent numerical quadrature, analysis of the initial parameter K, and the numerical experiments associated with the theoretical refinement predictions.
