Preservation copy of the original JOIS article. Objective The main objective of this paper is to buttress the essentiality of the heart towards self- realisation from the perspective Islam. This is germane in a bid to enable man realize his mission so as to work towards salvation on the day of resurrection. The paper identifies the heart as important organ of the body which was originally endowed with a state of purity. It further emphasizes that this sound state enables it to recognize God and differentiate between truthfulness and falsehood. The paper affirms that this accounts for the reason why it serves as the custodian of the trust (Al-Amanah) given to man for exhibition on earth. It is in view of the above that the paper purposely stresses that everything concerning man is geared towards the state of the heart. The intent of the paper lies in the fact that, to enable man attain this originality, (the state of purification of the heart), man must be resolute to always engage in self assessment from time to time. Methodology The paper adopts a critical analysis of the available literary work of Islam such as some verses of the Glorious Qur'an, relevant prophetic traditions and related write up of Islamic scholars. The make exposition of the evidences in relation to the topic and presented the discussion in logical and sequential order. This enables a flow of the ideas discussed, appreciation of the fact appraised and realisation of the objective of the paper. Research Findings Based on scriptural evidences, the paper attests to the fact that the judgment of human feelings and actions, attainment of knowledge or inspirations, description of the state of a man (sound or sick) and reward on the day of resurrection all depends on the state of the heart. It further unveils that only self re-examination could assist man in retracing his footprint in a bid to realize his originality. When this is given due cognizance, it would accord man the chance of attaining success and perfection in this world and salvation in the day of resurrection. Applications To enable man attain his originality, (the state of purification of the heart), man must always put at the back of his mind the fact that the whole test of life is geared towards the heart. Man must therefore be resolute to always engage in self assessment from time to time. Man must be ready to reprimand himself whenever he falls below real expectation so that he could experience the peace of mind known by a purified heart. Rational Substantial studies on Senge's (1990) learning organization model have focused on the conceptual understanding using a descriptive approach, whereas less empirical studies have been conducted to develop and validate its measure, especially in a culturally different context. Consequently, more research is essential to empirically explore and confirm the existing model and concept of a learning organization. Objective This study aimed to represent a necessary step to measure and validate learning organization based on Senge's model framework in the cultural context of Thailand. Methodology Participants were 308 teachers of Islamic private schools in Pattani province, southern Thailand. Exploratory factor analysis using Principle Component Analysis (PCA) was first performed to explore the theoretical constructs of Senge's learning organization model and then Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted to test its hypothesized model. Research Findings In the item development process, the researchers initially developed a 75-item pool of learning organizations, and these items were revised and reduced to 47 items after experts examined their content validity. The PCA resulted in a 27-item scale that measures five extracted dimensions of a learning organization, namely, personal mastery, team learning, shared vision, mental model, and system thinking. Findings also revealed acceptable internal consistency reliability for the overall scale and the five specific sub-scale of a learning organization. The CFA showed that the five identified dimensions consisting of 23 items indicated a good model fit. Applications The results of this study provided strong evidence that the five disciplines of Senge's learning organization model can be operationalized and measured in Thai school contexts. And this developed measurement may provide good indicators for school administrators and educators who want to measure their schools' practice of learning organization, especially in Thailand's Islamic private schools setting. Objective To study the construction of meanings and production of knowledge on human nature and worldview of the Enlightenment project underpinning the modern thoughts which responsible for the destruction of environment, in comparison with the Islamic worldview and meaning of man which provide the ethical principles for the protection and preservation of the planet Earth. Methodology Documentary, the use of academic works on western-modern philosophy, industrial revolution and its devastating effects on the environment. The writings on Islamic philosophy and the critique of western thoughts by Muslim as well as non-Muslim thinkers are consulted. The sacred texts of Islam are also extensively referred to. Research Findings The construction of meanings and production of knowledge on human nature and worldview of the Enlightenment project insists that human is nothing but matter devoid of spiritual significant. This perspective maintains that man is being categorized as animal, and like other animals their very existence is to compete for a survival. The concept of human nature as being the same as those of animals has been well established by the Enlightenment project. Similarly, knowledge of the meaning of the planet earth established that nature is but material resources waiting to be exploited to serve insatiable desire of man. This concept of human nature and the meaning of the planet earth give rise to the unprecedented destruction of environment and the devasting impact on man and his societies. Islam, however viewed man as spiritual being or ethical being. The essence of man is spiritual with its disposition toward higher ethical accomplishment. The mother earth has her own spirit, embed in it a life-support system. Thus, both man and the earth are one organic whole responsible for one another. The Islamic concepts of Amanah (trust), Firtah (purity) and Khalifah (bearer), among others are well established as the ethical back bones for protection and preservation of the environment. Applications Islamic Knowledge on the meaning of man, the natural world and their relationships as well as the ethical principles of khalifah, amanah, fitrah, and the noble origin of man can be tough, particularly, in the primary and secondary's curricula.
